Preguntas frecuentes (FAQ)

Q: I'm over 18, can I just sign up for regular behind-the-wheel lessons without the guarantee?

A: Yes! Our behind-the-wheel lessons are available to drivers of any age with a valid learner's permit. The Adult Driver, Guaranteed program is specifically designed for those over 18 who want to quickly get a driver license but aren't sure how many lessons are needed. This program also includes the use of our vehicle for the driver skills test(s).

Q

Q: What's included in the program?
A: Six 1-hour behind-the-wheel lessons, DMV test-day transportation, simulated road tests including all the maneuvers tested on the official Road Skills Exam, PLUS additional lessons as needed, all backed by our Triple-Try guarantee.

Q: How does the Triple Try guarantee work?
A: If, after training with us, you don't pass your first road test, you get 2 additional free lessons to focus on specific skills. Don't pass the second time? Get 2 more free lessons and use our car for a third try. If unsuccessful after three attempts, receive a 50 percent refund on the program fee.

Q: Do you provide a car for the DMV test?
A: Yes, you'll use our training vehicle for all lessons and all road tests. It is fully licensed, ensured, and maintained and will pass the DMV pre-exam inspection, guaranteed.

Q: How soon can I schedule my DMV test?
A: After your first lesson, your instructor will have a better idea of how much training you'll need. We'll work together to coordinate your schedule, the instructor's schedule and vehicle availability to match the earliest available date offered by the DMV. Typically, the Leon County DMV Road Test is booked up 7-14 days in advance.

Q: Are there any requirements to enroll?
A: All drivers must at least 18 years old on the day of their first scheduled Road Skills Exam and have a valid Florida learner's permit.

Q: What happens if I'm not ready for the Road Skills Exam after 6 lessons?

A: After your very first lesson, our instructor will assess your starting skill level. If we determine the Adult Driver Guaranteed program isn't the best fit, we'll discuss alternatives including a full refund or customized training plan that works for you.

Q: Where do lessons start / end?

A: We offer pickup / dropoff anywhere in Leon County. We will consider other students outside of Leon County on a case-by-case basis. Pickup locations can be home, work, school or anywhere else you choose.

Q. Can the pickup and dropoff locations be different?

A: Yes! We can pick up from work and drop off at home, or mix and match locations to meet your needs.

Q: What's the cancellation policy?

A: 24-hour notice is preferred. Late cancellations or no-shows hurt our business and prohibit others from using that time. We understand that sometimes things happen, so we do not automatically charge our students for a missed lesson but reserve the right to do so for repeated late notice or missed lessons.

Q: How are lessons scheduled?

A: After enrollment, you can access our instructor calendar through your student profile that you created when you bought the package. Our instructor calendars have time slots where our instructors are available, typically Monday through Saturday, 9am - 6pm. We recommend 2-3 lessons per week for consistent skill development.

Q: Can I take my official Road Skills Exam with Burgess Driving School?

A: Not yet. We are working on becoming a third-party exam provider, but we are currently unable to offer that service. We can and do offer a simulated Road Skills Exam on or near the same roads where the Leon County DMV conducts the official test.

Q: When is payment due?

A: Full payment required at enrollment by credit card or Paypal. We can also accept other forms of payment, including cash, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or other services. Please let us know if you would like to pay using one of those alternative methods.

Q: What happens between failed attempts?

A: After any unsuccessful attempt, we'll work together to schedule your bonus lessons. We'll focus on specific areas needing improvement before scheduling your next test.

Q: What's included in each lesson?

A: One hour of behind-the-wheel instruction, progress tracking, and detailed feedback. We focus on both technical skills and confidence building.
